Mens Guide To Winter Jackets

Finding the right jacket for Autumn/Winter can be difficult with the ever-changing weather. Having a lighter jacket is ideal when faced with milder days, but you’ll also need a hooded, padded jacket for winter storms. Here we’ll go through the different types of winter jackets and coats, which one you’ll want for different situations, and which are our personal favourites.

The Iconic Puffer

Puffer jackets are designed to keep you warm even in the chilling wind; they provide a retro, urban look and are perfect for casual day-time wear. The North Face have nailed the puffer jacket. The iconic Nuptse inspired by the 1996 Nuptse, packs plenty of retro punch. It doesn’t just look great, its lofty goose down insulation will keep you toasty warm and the water-repellent finish will keep you dry in those winter storms.

The Classic Gilet

Layer up a classic gilet under a jumper on those milder, dry days. The idea behind the gilet is that they keep your internal organs warm, which should keep you warm all over unless its freezing, whilst letting your shoulders and arms feel free and easy to move.

Our favourite gilet/bodywarmer from Parajumpers has lightweight down padding. Down filled and water resistant this gilet adds extra warmth and protection from the elements during the colder months. It’s perfect for when you don’t want to quite accept Summer is over or that its nearly time to dig out “the big winter coat”.

This is the timeless rain jacket you need in your wardrobe; rain jackets are perfect for when it’s raining (go figure) but isn’t hot enough for you to bulk up in a big winter coat. Rain jackets are also a great last addition to any layering outfits you may want to try.
