There are so many spring trends for men’s fashion, but we’re going to take you through the ones that will really matter to you. With the sun out (this writer has started wearing sun cream already) your wardrobe is going to have to make a few drastic changes to keep you up to date with the weather and the latest men’s spring trends. Here are the top four we think you should follow:
Summer Prints
Its time to go bold this year with daring colours, prints and patterns for your summer shirts. The hotter weather makes this the perfect time to experiment with riskier shirts, as everyone wears brighter colours in spring – meaning you won’t look out of place.
Ease into louder prints by choosing neutral base colours (think white, blue, pink) with subtle prints or patterns, like florals or stripes. You don’t have to go too loud too quickly, and we recommend you ease yourself into summer prints slowly.
If you are going for the loudest shirt in your wardrobe (excellent choice) then make sure it is the only loud piece of your outfit. In order to match, the rest of your clothes need to be subtle so the summer print shirt can be the star.
Athleisure
The athleisure trend isn’t going anywhere, and when you want to look casual then a sporty vibe is a great choice.
Please don’t think you’ve nailed athleisure by just wearing your gym clothes to the office. It’s a little more sophisticated than that, and the key to this trend is to mix sportswear with ready-to-wear. Mix sports pieces with items from your usual day-to-day wardrobe.
Key features of athleisure wear include bomber jackets, trainers, joggers, chinos and then sport-infused accessories like baseball caps and duffel bags.
Short Shorts
The shorts got dangerously short on the catwalk this spring, so don’t be afraid to join in and whip out your favourite pair of shorts this season. We don’t recommend you go too short though (unless you have the legs for it) and two to three inches above the knee is usually a safe length for your shorts.
Stick to neutral colours with your shorts and let the rest of your clothes grab people’s attention. Shorts are comfortable and casual, and they shouldn’t often be the statement piece to your outfit.
Brown Is the New Black
Another common theme on the catwalk this year was brown. If you’re not interested in bright summer prints like we mentioned earlier, then your answer is rusty water colour – also known as brown.
Go bold with tonal dressing and make your entire outfit camel themed this spring. We explain how to pull off tonal dressing here.
To Recap:
- Go bold with summer printed shirts.
- Give your casual wear a much-needed twist with a few athleisure accents.
- If you’re not sure what colour to go for – pick brown.
- Don’t be afraid to ditch the trousers and put on some shorts.
